Highlight: Petco Adoption Program

The Friendship Animal Protective League works with several businesses within our community to help support our mission driven work. A big part of our mission includes finding homes for the many animals that come through our doors. With adoptions being at an all time low nationwide, we rely on partnerships to help us find ways to get more animals adopted.

One of those very special partnerships is with our local Petco stores. Specifically, the Petco stores in Avon and Elyria. Both stores have physical cat condos at their locations for us to house adoptable cats, and hopefully find adopters for these cats. Both Avon and Elyria Petco allow for us to have a broader potential adopter reach for our cats. When you take a look at the bigger picture, not only does this help increase our cat adoptions, but it opens up a space at our shelter for more cats coming in, in need of our help!

While it is important to highlight Petco and their contribution to finding homes for our cats, we also have to highlight our wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to get cats to those stores. We have a dedicated group consisting of three volunteers, Lisa Molnar, Barb McGinty and Nicole Smith who in addition to their other volunteer roles, make time to ensure we always have cats at Petco ready for adoption. In fact, this year we have adopted out 90 cats/kittens from our Petco stores!
